Jim visits high-tech business in Waterbeach

Jim with Thermoteknix founder and managing director, Dr. Richard Salisbury.

Today Jim visited Thermoteknix Systems Ltd based in Waterbeach which designs, manufactures and supplies high tech thermal imaging solutions to the Industrial, Engineering, Aerospace, Security and Defence sectors. The company employs 50 staff and so, like all small and medium businesses in the area, plays an important role in the local economy.

Jim was given a tour of the company’s facility which provides thermal imaging for British troops on the front line, was introduced to members of staff and had a hands-on demonstration of the company’s new ClipIR thermal imaging camera which is set to have a significant and imminent effect on the company’s growth.  Thermoteknix’ ClipIR is a small clip-on thermal imaging camera which attaches to Night Vision Goggles to give them complete darkness and low light performance beyond their normal capabilities.

Jim said, “I was very impressed with what I saw when I visited Thermoteknix and especially the innovative way in which they have developed their products and therefore been able to expand the business over the last few years. It is fantastic to see that Cambridgeshire still has some of the most enterprising businesses in the country helping to support both our local and national economy.”

Thermoteknix Systems Ltd’s Managing Director, Dr Richard Salisbury said: “We are proud to support our Armed Forces and to be part of the UK Defence Industry. Thermoteknix has a world-class reputation for innovation and we invest heavily in continued Research and Development to maintain our position against large multi-national competitors. We were very pleased to have had the opportunity to give Jim a behind the scenes tour of our business and to explain to him the importance of the potential offered by our new ClipIR product for Thermoteknix’ export business and for the local economy of South East Cambridgeshire.”
