Jim challenges constituents to be potential lifesavers.

Today, Jim Paice has joined the recruitment drive to find 10,000 people to sign up to be vital life-saving bone marrow donors. Not long ago you may have seen in the news the story of 15-year old Alice Pyne, who has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Alice needed a stem cell transplant but very sadly was unable to find a matching donor when she was still healthy enough to benefit from it.

Alice attracted the attention of the media when she published online what she called her “bucket list” of things she wants to do before she dies. At the top of that list was her wish to recruit as many people as possible to the Anthony Nolan stem cell donor register.

Jim says ‘I’m hoping to help Alice reach her goal and I would be grateful for your help. There are currently 1,600 people hoping to find a matching donor before it is too late. This is something that I can help her achieve with your help.

Bone marrow transplant charity, Anthony Nolan, say that the greatest need is for young men aged 18-30. Their aim is to recruit 10,000 of these potential lifesavers, who would give these patients the best chance to live and I wondered if you might know any young men up for this challenge.’

Joining the stem cell donor register is simple and it’s all explained on the Anthony Nolan website. Just go to mp.anthonynolan.org  and enter the code JRU8 for details.

Please also forward this information to any young men you know.
